BJ - 5/17/18 - Badge Awarded 5/18/18 - NSPHi, Beverly. I am Nerisa, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for Ask About the World: Global Inquiry. I am looking forward to working with you in this module. Thanks.
You have sufficient collection to support you to achieve your goal in this module. I like that you were able to collect valuable resources for your lesson. I appreciate you for being able to celebrate Earth Day with your students to promote a worthy cause to save Mother Earth. I noted that you provided various opportunities for your students using videos and read aloud to emphasize how the rest of the world is trying to protect our planet. I hope that you have allowed them to dig deeper to explore and investigate more using inquiry-based learning the ways and means to care and to preserve the environment first by starting on what they can do in the community where they live in. They have to communicate, collaborate and or share one another about their research works or project so that they can conduct an introspection into their lives and find out or think about what they can do to make a difference to make our world a better place. It was evident in your student work and student reflection that you successfully led your students to think about ways to be an advocate to achieve a common goal and positive impact to preserve the environment and save Mother Earth and let the future generations live. I suggest that you continue to establish a connection with your students to the other sustainable development goals related to this module so that you won't break that momentum and inspiration for them to look for ways to create an impact of their own community and to the society and the world in general. I am delighted to hear your desire to work on this kind of lesson again. I am glad also that your students enjoyed having this project-based learning along with your inquiry-based approach to gather information, explore and investigate various strategies and actions to help preserved our precious planet and continue to develop their curiosity and acquire more knowledge and understanding about global issues and stimulate empathy towards people around the world who has been affected by uncaring people or those who don't have the sympathy and concern of saving our earth but just continue contributing destruction in our planet. I suggest that you continue to engage your students in any global lesson or course that you are planning to take on Participate. Good job, Beverly! Congratulations! I am happy to award you a badge on this module. Please continue to mold your students to develop their global competencies. |
KR - 5/23/18 - Badge Awarded 5/25/18 - NSPHi, Katherine. I am Nerisa, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for Ask About the World: Global Inquiry. I am looking forward to working with you in this module. Thanks. You were able to create a collection suitable to support you to accomplish the goal of this module. I love also that you were able to add in your stack the 3 rules to spark learning which can be a great inspiration of your students and you as a teacher to create a relevant inquiry-based learning approach in the teaching and learning life with your students. I agree with these three rules such as curiosity comes first, embrace the mess and practice reflection as methods to spark learning. These are the real deal to practice in providing and promoting significant global inquiry lessons with our students. The coral reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, housing tens of thousands of marine species. About one-third of all marine fish species live part of their lives on coral reefs. They act as a protection mechanism to coastlines and a home to an array of ecosystems. The oceans and seas are incredible things of beauty, with a fascinating mix of underwater gardens and marine life. Unfortunately, many of them were threatened due to man-made causes and in need of preservation. I appreciate you for being able to convey to your students the relevance of saving the coral reefs to support the advocacy of protecting and saving our planet. I am pleased that you have successfully led your students to explore and investigate the importance of the coral reefs to the preservation of life below the surface which could also had a tremendous impact on the life of human being when the fish no longer have a home to survive and then they would be unable to give out food to the people. You have to emphasize the fact that coral reefs protect coastlines from the damaging effects of wave action and tropical storms and provide habitats and shelter for numerous marine organisms. I was wondering if you have also covered in your lesson some of the best coral reefs around the world and how are the people in those places have done to preserve or protect the coral reefs. I suggest that you allow your students to dig deeper other possibilities to save the planet, Earth. You can check other sustainable development goals that you continue to study with your students from Participate courses. I bet it would be easier for you to relate this lesson to the other sustainable development goals. I love to hear that your students really enjoyed learning about coral reefs and why they are important. I noted that you were able to use videos to explore and investigate so that they can also stimulate their curiosity and understanding about global issues related to coral reefs to be able to preserve and protect our environment and our planet, Earth. I am glad that you have the intention of continuing to teach this kind of lessons that require your students to become curious and be aware of what is going on around the world and they will also as result of their exposure develop empathy towards saving our planet, Earth. Good job, Katherine! Congratulations! I would like to award you a badge for this module. Please continue to teach the ways and means to protect, preserve and save our planet, Earth. LC - 5/23/18 - Badge Awarded 5/25/18 - NSPHi, Ms. L. Cruz. I am Nerisa, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for Ask About the World: Global Inquiry. I am looking forward to working with you in this module. Thanks. You have created a collection that would be enough to support you to accomplish the goal in this module. I have seen that you have included valuable resources about these remarkable personalities like Leonardo Da’Vinci, Martin L. King, Frida Khalo, Ruby Bridges and Nelson Mandela. You have chosen the most interesting historical figures that have an immeasurable impact on the society they live in and the world in general. I hope that your students were able to compare each personality like Leonardo de Vinci with Freda Khalo in consideration of their contributions to art. For example the Mona Lisa of Leonardo Da Vinci and the various self-portrait of Freda Khalo. I am pleased that you have focused on their personal identities and the diverse language they speak that represent their individual culture and traditions. I love that you also have included in your study or activity, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Ruby Bridges. They were very influential people that made their own legacy to be remembered as the years passed by as a symbol of courage in the face of suffering that marks the monumental events of their existence. You can allow your students to be curious on many things as they uncover the works of these people that make a difference which could also unravel various possibilities for your students to be aware of themselves and discover their personal perspectives, plan and dreams to make a difference to the society they live in and the world in general. This activity will communicate a great deal for your students to conduct an introspection into their lives and think of what they can also do that will make a difference in the future. They can also lead them to understand other people ideas and thoughts around the world, their culture, and traditions that were represented in their works and backgrounds and how they value their contributions to the people that can affect the lives of the people and to make the world a better place. These people have their own advocacies in life that made a tremendous impact on the people around the world. They are one of the heroes of all time that will never be forgotten by the people. These are things that you need to focus on creating a meaningful learning experience with your kids as they watch and listen to the videos about these remarkable people. It was evident in your student work and student reflection that you have led your students to develop curiosity and intercultural awareness as demonstrated by these exceptional people who made a phenomenal mark in the history of the times. I hope that you have covered or emphasized various monumental events in the life of these heroes who been admired or idealized for their courage and strength, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities that mark a phenomenal milestone in the history of the mankind. I suggest that you continue to focus on how can your student get connected with what is also going on around the world with other global issues and cultivate in them not only curiosity and knowledge but also developing empathy towards those people who may have difficult situations or circumstances that they might become an agent of change as time progressed just like the history of the great Black heroes of all time that you included in your study. I like that your students were able to discern and realize the importance of creating an impact or to make a contribution to make the world a better place. Please continue to foster global awareness and empathy with your students to develop their global competencies. Congratulations! I would like to award you a badge for this module. Please continue to mold your students to become a productive citizens of the country and the world in general. JC - 5/23/18 - Badge Awarded 5/25/18 - NSP
Hello, Julie. I am Nerisa Pampilo, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for You Belong Here: Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning in a Global Classroom. I am looking forward to working with you in this module. Generally, we like to see at least three resources or more inside a collection. You can add resources to your collection by clicking on the red plus symbol inside the collection feature. You can search for resources to add by typing your topic in the top search bar. Please let me know if you have questions and I will be here to support you. Thanks! You were able to create a collection to get you started with this module. I am hoping that you can explore more resources from Participate collection to support and strengthen your stack for future reference. I suggest that you find time to update your collection because you can get tons of ideas from various participants in this module and the other courses you plan to take in the succeeding days. I am pleased to see a different way of gathering information from your students using the multicultural self-graphic organizers to identify your students' personal identities and family background as evidence in your student work. I bet this was a very interesting activity with your students where they were able to uncover diverse cultures among themselves which play a significant role to promote understanding and tolerance of differences as shown in student reflection. I agree that it can also help to develop compassion and a deeper recognition and acceptance of people's individual uniqueness not only among themselves but toward people around the world. I believe that your students were able to conduct an introspection into their lives on how to behave themselves with other people with unique personalities and background. This is also one way to stimulate their curiosity and develop intercultural awareness and empathy toward people in all walks of life in the society where they live and the world in general. I appreciate your honesty on how you feel about this course, however, I believe that you realized that it was worth it to learn more about your students' cultural background and personal identities to be able to understand and embrace each other as unique individuals. I am glad to know your intentions of repeating this activity at the beginning of the school year which was a great indication that you were able to recognize the significance of knowing your students well to achieve a better understanding of how they are going to behave themselves with other people with background and status in life. Congratulations! I am glad to award you a badge for this module. Please continue to mold your students to develop their global competencies. |
