Hi, Tresia. I am Nerisa, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for Ask About the World: Global Inquiry. I am looking forward to working with you in this module. Thanks. You have started a collection that can help you accomplish your learning objectives in this module. I saw a valuable resource in your stack about the top 10 United States landmark which is relevant to the objectives of the lesson. However, I need you to revise the component under "Ask compelling questions" because it doesn't fit with your learning product as well as your student work. It talks about the mountain but I didn't see any mountain in your student work so please go back to your lesson plan and edit it in conjunction with your learning objectives. Please correct me if I am wrong but I have seen your student work also somewhere by another participant. Are you collaboratively working with other teachers in this module? That is fine with me, just make sure to submit a brief reflection from your students on how this activity impact your students. You can "Join the Discussion" to tell us about your updates using the link to your learning product below. Please let me know if you have questions and I will be here to support you. Thanks! I love to see that you will be able to finish this module. Please update your lesson plan and write a brief student reflection when you "Join the Discussion" using the link below. JTS - 5/25/18 Badge Awarded 5//18 NSPHello, Juli. I am Nerisa, a member of the peer review team for Participate. I work at the elementary school here in North Carolina. I will be reviewing your Learning Product for You Belong Here: Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning in a Global Classroom. I am looking forward to working with you in this module.
You have started a collection that is suitable to support to accomplish your goal in this module. I have seen valuable resources for your lesson and I appreciate your submission of your lesson plan, student work, and student reflection. However, I need to request you to use Participate template and resubmit your lesson plan so that I can proceed with the review. Here’s the link that you can use: docs.google.com/document/d/133TxZyYwnJLXRpDEpQxPXYwRX8HX5DNaVpNPmbkSMt8/edit I was able to access your revised lesson plan using the Participate template. Thanks a lot, Juli. I like how you focus on learning the characteristics of your students as described in their family type, learning style and country of origin including culture and traditions as stated in your learning objectives. I am also glad that you allowed your students to explore and investigate more about their personal identities, origin, and background that will give them an opportunity to uncover unique characteristics that have great influence of the kind of person they are now. I am fascinated by the "Selfie Project" that you provided with your students to discover many traits among their peers that have unfolded diverse personal information and background as they engage themselves with family members in a conversations to find out about their cultural traditions. I agree that they can acquire a deeper understanding of people's culture and traditions. I like that you have given your students a pleasant and meaningful learning experience to conduct an introspection of themselves so that they will be able to be aware of themselves and know how to behave in the society with diverse people with different identities and background which would also stimulate their empathy toward people around the world. It was good to know that your students had enjoyed the activity that you have especially on taking selfies in the computer and finding out the origin of their family traditions that they are not aware of at first. I am glad that you find something interesting with your activity because that is a good indication that you can continue to develop the global competencies of your students. I suggest that you make sure to conduct this activity also at the beginning of the school year so that you will know your students better and you will have a productive or fruitful year ahead. Congratulations! I am delighted to award you a badge for this module. Please continue to mold your students to become productive global citizens. |
